Hit Parader, February 1967 (feeling the music) “Guys like BB King and Muddy Waters who are speaking to the people-there are so many things in their music that just completely pass by the kids. Most kids listen to their music because it has a beat or because they know it’s Muddy Waters and it means something cloudy and obscure to them. There’s so much going on lyrically – an afficione will appreciate things that another cat will miss. I’m using that Spanish word because it’s the only one. You have to live it, it’s got to be part of you. To get emotional is the most important thing in all music. If you can’t get emotions out of your audience, it doesn’t mean a thing – mike bloomfield Muddy Waters “FATHER’S & SON’S ” LP April 1969 muddy waters-vocals/guitar mike bloomfield-guitar paul butterfield-harmonica donald “duck” dunn-bass sam lay-drums otis spann-piano please visit MIKEBLOOMFIELD.com

The guitar solo on here is a gem. It is beautifully structured. It is vocal-like. It compliments Muddy’s voice perfectly. It is in the groove. The tone is sweet, the articulation and phrasing is as blue as it gets. Mike at his soulful, virtuosic, improvisational best! (Wish he was still with us.)
mike bloomfield R.I.P. no one even comes close

Bitchin!
Could there be a better band? Well, I guess you could piece one together, but Spann on piano, Lay on drums, Butter on harp, and of course Muddy’s fine vocals. Ah, this stuff is heaven for us lovers of the blues.
these lyrics just confuse me. is he saying there was never any love there to begin with?
Greta post friend!
Man solo is just electrifying. The pictures are also great! Great job as always. Man are we happy that you share this gems with us hehe. Greets!
Muddy Water with Mike Bloomfield, can’t get any better then that! Excellent!
Super Cosmic Joy Scout Jamboree, front row center at the Auditorium Theater in Chicago . The show opened with Quicksilver Messenger Service followed by Nick Gravenities. The reason we were there was to see Muddy Waters. This was the “Fathers and Sons’ Concert with Mike Bloomfield, Paul Butterfield, Sam Lay, Otis Spann, Buddy Miles and Duck Dunn.
@fathersandsons1 That is amazing…
Bloomfield fits in SO well, but personally I do not think that Butterfield fits in as well. But, I love them both.
Simply beautiful!!! Thanks for posting:)
Grandma mary
Hey ZINEDINE05 keep them coming, brother, this is great. Was at Fathers and Son’s concert at the Auditorium in April ’69.
The material from Muddy and the Wolf is taken from this album and the London sessions with Howling Wolf. I’m a proud owner of all three of these discs. I do know that Mike didn’t want to overshadow Muddy when they made this disc. As I’m sure you know,Mike’s respect for Muddy was huge.
According to if You Love These Blues Mike was “intimidated” by Muddys playing but to me it sure as hell doesn’t show.
If you ever get the chance check out muddy & the wolf featuring Eric Clapton and Bloomfield its some really heavy stuff!
@vandret if it is, thats where im going!
Thanks for the listen : )
Theres nothing wrong with a expressive slow blues…!!!!!
Love it.
