Square dance recording made in 1946. Sonora Record 1122 side A (SR 1699-1). Published in album MS-479 “Country Dances” side 3. Calls by Ed Durlacher. Music by The Top Hands. When he would call this outdoors in New York City he would emphasize to the dancers that they were actually moving toward uptown and away. Uptown and Dowtown (1) First Couple Up Center and away Uptown. First Couple walk to Couple Three and join hands. (2) Bring that other Couple Down. Couple Three chase and follow Couple One back to their position. (3) Pick them Up and Lay them down and Away you Go All Around the town. Couple One now chase and follow Couple Three back to their position. (4) Separate, Go Around Alone, Right Elbow Swing when you Meet your Own. Couple Three separate and allow Couple One to walk through. The First lady turns to the right and the First Gent tot the left around the outside of the Set. They meet in own position, hook right elbows and turn once. Drop elbows. (5) Swing on the Corner Swing Around all, Swing your Corner Lady. All Swing Corners. (6) Leave her alone and Swing your Own, Swing your Partners All. All return to own Partners and Swing. (7) Promenade. Partners cross hands in skating position and walk once around the Set counter clockwise to own place. – Note: Each Couple does the dance in turn. Chorus Call comes after Second and Last Couple.
